Each chapter gives a depiction of the events before and after the relationship and marriage. The first two chapters give a brief (but telling) account of the abuse and conditioning she experienced during the relationship. The remaining chapters describe her following healing journey in various stages- grief, shock, depression, loneliness, and anger (at herself and her abuser) , reflection and the final stage: Freedom.
